Granier - the Spanish bakery chain with headquarters established in Vilanova i la Geltrú (Garraf, Barcelona, Spain) and a turnover of around 50,000,000 euros - plans to invest more than 5,000,000 euros in modernizing its 270 stores in Spain. The investment is aimed at renewing and strengthening the brand identity as well as to open around 30 new stores in the next 2 and a half years. Granier wants to convert its stores into more warm-color places where the currently predominant back will be changed by a wood-color, wicker chairs and rustic decoration.

This renovation plan, which has already been launched with the new stores opened by the company this year, will result in the transformation of approximately 80 establishments in the remainder of 2024. The idea is to have the 270 stores in Spain all reformed by 2026. Granier has signed agreements with different financial entities with the aim of supporting the change carried out by its franchisees, thus accessing advantageous conditions. The founder and CEO of Granier, Mr. Juan Pedro Conde, states that in the last 10 years they have put great effort in consolidating the company as a referent one in the market and they have been years of growth and expansion.

Granier’s growth ambition is still visible in the company’s growth strategy (both in the national and international market). Regarding the Spanish territory, Granier plans to open a minimum of 10 stores in 2024, another 10 in 2025 and another 10 in 2026. Nonetheless, the main focus of the company is on the international market. The company already operates in around 30 countries: Andorra, Costa Rica, United States, Mexico, Panama, United Kingdom, Dominican Republic and Venezuela, and their main objective is to expand its presence in these markets. Additionally, the company has the determination to open stores in new countries such as El Salvador, Mauritania, Morocco, Guatemala, Honduras, Tanzania, Saudi Arabia or the United Arab Emirates.

The H&M group inaugurated in Barcelona the first store in Spain for its premium brand Arket, which is based in Stockholm and it is marked by a functional, minimalist and Nordic style. The store in Barcelona is located in Passeig de Gràcia, one of the city’s most representative streets for the fashion sector and with a high presence of luxury brands.

The store, which was inaugurated at the beginning of July 2024, is located on the ground floor and first floor of an old residential building built at the beginning of the 20th century and the surface of which has approximately 650 square meters. Arket will offer its entire range of clothing and accessories for both women and men, children’s clothing, body care products as well as home accessories. However, they will go one step further by including a cafeteria, which bases its offers on healthy, quality food, aligned with Swedish gastronomy. Moreover, the store in Barcelona will have a pop-up bookstore in collaboration with the Barcelona publisher named Apartamento.

Arket was born in 2017 and, without considering the recent openings in Barcelona and in Milan, it has 27 stores in Europe and 7 in Asia (4 in China and 3 in South Korea). The company has recently opened establishments in Berlin and Geneva as well as in Barcelona and Milan, and it plans to arrive this year in Dublin and Warsaw.

Nike - the American sports clothing and equipment multinational company - has rented a 800 square meters store in the Aura building, located in the Diagonal area of Barcelona next to Plaza Francesc Macià. With this inauguration, Nike will open its second largest store in Barcelona, after the one located in Passeig de Gràcia which has an area of around 2,000 square meters. In addition, the sports brand is present in other shopping centers of the city such as L’Illa and La Maquinista.

The Aura building is owned by Mr. Pedro Alonso and its commercialization is in charge of the real estate consultancy named Cushman & Wakefield. The building is mainly constituted by offices which occupy 14,000 of the total 21,500 square meters that the building has. Additionally, the building is completed by 2,500 square meters of garden areas and another 6,180 square meters of commercial space, within which the Nike store is located. The sportswear multinational will share the Aura building with the stores of other well-known brands such as Sephora perfumery or the gourmet supermarket owned by El Corte Inglés.

The location of the building in the upper side of the Diagonal Avenue is highly strategic since it constitutes an area that is re-emerging as a commercial hub in Barcelona with multiple new openings recently.
