We are discussing a joint incubator in the field of battery technologies with Sofia Tech Park, announced the director of the International Business Development Center at Binghamton University

The International Business Development Center at Binghamton University is discussing together with Sofia Tech Park how to create a joint start-up incubator in the field of battery technologies. Elena Yankova , director of the International Business Development Center - Binghamton University, announced this in the program "Business Start" on Bloomberg TV Bulgaria .

For the center at Binghamton University, she said that each startup company from the incubator has a mentor with whom they discuss the business model - how to transform the created product into a business venture and create a company.

Yankova explained that the incubator provides training on various topics. "There is a special program for clean energy - for startups in the field of clean technologies. The program is funded by the State of New York through the Clean Energy Research and Development Agency . In addition to mentoring, there is also funding to support companies.

"We created a soft start program, which is an initiative not only of Binghamton University, but also of Cornell University - Center for the Promotion of International Business, with the participation of the Business Incubator from Binghamton and the College of Business at Cornell University," Yankova explained. What we do is to support any startups that have a clear interest in internationalizing and thus developing and growing," she added.

She hopes that the benefits for Bulgarian startups will be advertised through the soft landing program, and that Bulgarian companies will be attracted through the Supersonic forum.

"The discoverer of lithium battery technology Prof. Stanley Whittingham is located here in Binghamton, Yankova also said. – He won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for the discovery of lithium batteries. An entire echelon is currently being created - $113 million won the university to develop the entire region as a battery innovation hub. A New York Battery Center will be established where anyone who wants to learn how to make such batteries will come."

Elena Yankova hopes that a system of startups, including from Bulgaria, will be created to work in this field. She revealed that the establishment of a joint incubator in the field of battery technologies is being discussed with Sofia Tech Park, and she expects to find a corporate partner for it in Bulgaria.
