Japan's Shimano, which is a multinational manufacturer of bicycle components, has announced plans to concentrate its distributors in several European countries.
This will happen through Shimano Europe - The Netherlands. The company has declared its intention to acquire sole control through the indirect acquisition of 51% of the shares of "BG-EuroTrade" EOOD, Bulgaria, "Rom-EuroTrade" SRL, Romania, "EuroTrade" Ltd, Greece and "Ces-EuroTrade" LLC, Slovenia, and to indirectly acquire 26.01% of the shares of "SBM - EuroTrade" LLC, Serbia (together, "EuroTrade"). This was announced by the Commission for the Protection of Competition.
The Shimano Group is active in Bulgaria on the market for the sale of bicycle components to OEMs and on the market for the sale of bicycle components to wholesalers.
The activity of "EuroTrade" in our country is related to the market for the sale of bicycle components and other bicycle-related products to retailers, the market for the sale of bicycles to retailers and, only as a distributor of products of the Shimano group, to market for selling bicycle components to OEMs.
The deal is expected to have an impact on the market for selling bicycle components and other bicycle-related products to retailers, said prospective buyer Shimano Europe.
The request is for the commission to carry out an assessment of the concentration and issue a decision, unconditionally allowing the concentration and ordering immediate implementation.
In this regard, any third interested party may submit information or express their written opinion regarding the transaction and the impact it may have on effective competition on the relevant market in the country.
The announcement was prepared by "Shimano Europe", and the commission reserves the right to make a final decision after carrying out a comprehensive assessment of the notified transaction, the regulator specified.
"BG-EuroTrade" EOOD - Sofia specializes in import and wholesale of bicycles, spare parts and accessories for bicycles, trade in all kinds of sports goods. The sole owner of the capital is Rom-EuroTrade LLC.
The company " BG-Yuro T - ride" was established in 2013 with the aim of exclusive distribution of Shimano bicycle components and accessories for the territory of Bulgaria. In addition to Shimano, the company supports and distributes PRO, Pearl Izumi, Lazer, Bikefitting, as well as many other key brands in the bicycle business.
Shimano was established in 1921 by Shozaburo Shimano in the city of Sakai, Osaka, Japan. The company is a multinational manufacturer of bicycle components, fishing tackle and rowing equipment. Shimano's first product is a freewheel. Nowadays, Shimano products include drivetrains, all types of brakes, dropouts and pedals for every category of bicycle. Shimano also offers cycling shoes, glasses and clothing.
