In 2022, Greece is in first place among European countries for the participation of photovoltaics in the energy mix, second place in the world for attracting investments in renewable energy sources, and eighth place for the total participation of renewable energy sources in the energy mix, the Greek Agency reported ANA-MPA, quoted by BTA on Sunday.
"In 2019, the country reported 11 terawatt hours of renewable energy sources, while in 2022 it will reach 20 terawatt hours," Environment and Energy Minister Kostas Skrekas said days ago during the annual event of the Renewable Energy Sources and Guarantees Operator origin (DAPEEP), in the presence of government officials and representatives of the energy market.
He emphasized that DAPEEP, through subsidies provided by the Energy Transition Fund, of which it is the manager, "against an unprecedented energy crisis, was able to support Greek society - households and businesses - in a fast, efficient and flexible way".
According to Skrekas, and according to the forecast of the new National Energy and Climate Plan, "the goal is that by 2030, 80 percent of electricity consumption in Greece will come from renewable energy sources."
"We have already reached 40 percent and by 2026 we will reach 66 percent. We have very ambitious goals that we can achieve together," he said.
Skrekas stressed that twice as many renewable energy sources were installed in one year than in the period from 2015 to 2018, "and this is not a coincidence, but a matter of work and strategy".
"We are focused on achieving the best result at the lowest cost for the benefit of consumers," said Skrekas.
