Poland is the first EU country that will pay license fees to Bulgaria for the right to produce Bulgarian yogurt. This was announced during a meeting between the executive director of “El Bi Bulgaria” Vladimir Russev and the Chairmen of the Board of Directors of “Mleĸovita” Dariysh Kapnicki. “Mleĸovita” is in the first place among the dairy companies in the Central and Eastern regions with an annual turnover of € 1.5 billion. The city produces 8 million liters of milk per day, delivered by 15,000 livestock units in 22 factories, which employ over 5,000 employees. The company has 34 logistics centers, one of which is the largest in Poland. Up to this moment, 147 brand stores have been opened, and 35% of the products are exported to a total of 167 countries from Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia and North and South America.

In the production facilities of the Bulgarian state-owned company “El Bi Bulgaria” and in its laboratories, there are more than 1000 strains of bacteria and more than 100 samples for the original Bulgarian yogurt. Experts from the main research units of the two companies discussed the specifications of the samples and the final product, as well as specific technological details of the production process.

“For 50 years, millions of Japanese have been starting their day with Bulgarian yogurt, and since this year, a similar partnership has started in Mongolia”, commented Vladimir Russev. He notes that over the past few months, the share of the state-owned dairy company has also been increasing rapidly, and that their products now reach more than 100 stores.

He added that the in past, experts from different countries worked in Bulgaria to use the unique strains and the state-owned company is motivated to carry on these traditions, believing that Poland is one of the best partners.

At the beginning of the year, it was announced that the Japanese company “Meiji” was planning to create a Japanese-Bulgarian center for development, which would maintain and create new dairy and other products containing the bacteria Lactobacillus bulgaricus.
