The agency model of Mercedes-Benz has now been introduced in Germany – valid both for cars and vans. For the customer, this now means nationwide uniform prices per model for new vehicles (depending on the period of the order, model, equipment, and payment method).

 Mercedes-Benz simply calls the sales model for Germany "Sales of the Future," whereby the customer will receive a uniform price nationwide and there will be seamless networking of online and offline purchases with personalized customer support - but for the dealer, it also means a fixed commission per vehicle sold and thus no more individual prices or discounts. Pricing will thus be centralized and applied uniformly throughout Germany.

"Today marks the beginning of a new era in sales: we are proud to have reached a milestone in sales transformation with the introduction of the agency model in Germany. The agency model is our response to significant social and technological change and the associated challenges in the automotive industry. We are thus underscoring our pioneering role in automotive sales and are certain that this is how we will continue to lead Mercedes-Benz Sales to success in the future," says Jörg Heinermann, Head of Mercedes-Benz Sales Germany. 

The changeover will take place on May 31, 2023, and will apply to the entire new-vehicle portfolio of Mercedes-Benz passenger cars and vans in Germany - effective immediately for both private and commercial customers and all customer groups. In the future, dealers will receive a fixed commission per vehicle delivered - regardless of whether the purchase was concluded online or in the showroom. The current 98 dealers in Germany have already agreed to the contracts for the new agency model in 2021. However, it will probably not be any easier for the companies to determine how the agency model will affect sales at the dealership.
