Sales of used cars soared: market leaders named

"AUTOSTAT" has published fresh data on the secondary car market. Used cars are sold much more actively than new ones: the market size is seven times larger .
In May 2023, Russians bought 501,900 used cars. In comparison with May last year, the growth in sales of used cars is one and a half times. Moreover, the result achieved is the best in 17 months.
Ford Focus remains the best-selling model in the secondary market, however, all cars in the top five show similar figures.
The strongest growth among them is shown by Toyota Camry (+83.5%). And the VAZ "seven" and "Priora" have the most modest growth - less than 10%.

In the top brands, Lada (108 thousand units) is in the lead, followed by Toyota (60 thousand units), Kia (29 thousand units), Hyundai (28 thousand units), Nissan (27 thousand units). ), Volkswagen (22 thousand units), Chevrolet (19 thousand units), Honda (18 thousand units), Ford (18 thousand units), Renault (17 thousand units).
For comparison: the primary market is now dominated by Lada and Chinese brands, but with much more modest numbers than used cars. More than half (51%) of the cars sold in the last spring month accounted for three brands: Lada (22 thousand units), Chery (7.44 thousand units) and Haval (7.43 thousand units).
Both in the rating of brands and in the statistics on models Chery and Haval compete wheel to wheel, and among the models it was the Haval crossover that took the lead in May, pushing the former leader aside.
It should be noted that Kia (3,000 units), which has not produced or imported cars in the Russian Federation since last year, remains in the Top 5 best-selling brands. Some leftovers continue to be sold, plus - we have not stopped loving the Kia brand, so cars are also being transported through parallel import channels.
