Russia plans to significantly reduce parallel imports. To do this, the Ministry of Industry and Trade narrows the list of goods allowed for import without the consent of manufacturers. In addition, the agency is discussing with Russian manufacturers of products the possibility of restricting the import of certain categories within the framework of parallel imports. We are talking about the computer technology of well-known foreign brands. The Asia Import Group believes that a complete ban on its supplies now is hardly a good idea.
Last week, the media reported, citing the Ministry of Industry and Trade, that the list of products allowed to be delivered to Russia without the consent of foreign manufacturers was significantly reduced. If initially there were 1.3 thousand positions in the list, now there are only 300 left. And this figure will continue to decline as the domestic market is saturated with its own goods. So, for example, the ministry is now discussing with Russian companies producing computer equipment the possibility of limiting the parallel import of products of more than 20 foreign brands into the Russian Federation. These include but are not limited to, IBM, Dell, NetApp, Pure Storage, Fusitsu, HP, xFussion, Inspur, Cisco, Hitachi, Arista, Delta Electronics, Oracle, and Quanta Supermicro.

The Asia Import Group believes that, of course, the initiative will contribute to the growth in the production of domestic computer equipment. However, it is unlikely that it will be able to fully meet the needs of the Russian market both in terms of quantity and quality.
“Customers often turn to Asia Import Group with a request to deliver server equipment of the listed brands. It is not entirely clear how they should be in the event of a ban on its import. In general, the approach to a complete restriction on the supply of such equipment is utopian. And not entirely correct. Lack of competition will not create conditions for Russian manufacturers to improve their products. And in general, it should be noted that so far the demand for foreign equipment is high, I’m not sure that Russian computer technology is just as popular at the moment,” said Mark Veshnyakov, commercial director of the company.
"Asia Import Group" is confident that with the introduction of restrictions on the supply of any products of foreign brands, it is necessary to create favorable conditions for the production of analogues in Russia, for the import of production equipment. For these purposes, it is possible to simplify the financing from the state.
