Tiktok : although being almost a decade old the app has still broken multiple records. The popularity of the app is practically common knowledge as it has generated 672 million downloads globally and 90 million just in the US. 

It's clear that the trend for popular apps in today's age is one of communication with other individuals online.  With such a wide audience that actively use online media apps. It’s easy to assume that advertisers would want to invest in such apps to spread their brand. Private messaging boards have also seen its popularity grow over the years. Examples for such media apps are, discord, and snapchat which have gained popularity due to their optimization.

Here are some details gathered about each media app:

Snapchat is a messaging app known for messages that disappear and some goofy filters for photos and/or videos for people to share with.  Snap chat statistics show that 383 million people use the app every day. Its popularity extends globally, having its majority of its user base in India having 182 million users. Snapchat's revenue sits at 4.484 billion dollars, although there seems to be a declining trend of revenue from last year.

Reddit, although not known for its ability to talk privately, it is known for its wide range of communities and communicating in a simple fashion. Its large range of audience makes it so that there is a message board for anyone for any interest. Reddit also gains a good portion of money through advertising, making 520 million dollars in 2022, a 30% increase from last year. But due to controversies this June, it may not gain the same attention as usual.

Discord is now used as a communication platform for other people, (mainly teens) to communicate with each other in different servers and groups of varying interests. Discord made 428 million dollars in 2022, an increase of 188%. With around 150 million monthly users its communities have much to offer and is projected to hit 200 million monthly active users by the end of 2023.

Instagram is a good way to see what your friends are up to and to post whatever you wish onto its site. Instagram also has a good way to find new content and express yourself online. Instagram has around 2.35 billion monthly active users with most being under the age of 34.
