Poland’s

There are about 1.2 million prosumers in Poland, as the country has been very active in energy transformation, lashing out policies and incentives to boost its green energy capacity.

Deputy Minister of Climate Piotr Dziadzio emphasized on March 8 that in the energy transformation it is important to carefully manage resources and the environment, which goes hand in hand with this form of energy generation. Prosumer energy also significantly increases energy security.

Poland has started investing in renewable energy sources, thanks to which prosumer energy, which prevents monopoly among energy companies on energy generation, began to develop significantly. This form of functioning of the energy market will have a particularly positive impact on the development of the so-called prosumer microsources. Prosumer energy focuses on the generation of energy by smaller households with less powerful installations, which in this way satisfy their energy needs and resell surplus energy to the grid.

The energy transformation is a very important step for Poland. The current energy crisis, exacerbated by Russia's attack on Ukraine, has underlined the need to reduce the EU's dependence on Russian fossil fuels. At the same time, the EU wants to be at the forefront of the green transformation to counteract the climate crisis.

In Poland, the "My Electricity" program is actively supported, for which the government has provided PLN 1.9 million so far. PLN 4.6 billion was allocated for +Clean Air+ and related environmental tasks. However, the allocation of funds for this program is much larger and by 2028 as much as PLN 100 billion has been planned for this purpose.

Over the last 7 years, renewable energy installations have been built in Poland, which are able to generate power at the level of 22 gigawatts. By 2025, it is expected that this capacity may increase to 28 gigawatts. However, taking into account long-term plans, it is estimated that by 2050 renewable energy will produce energy with a capacity of 50 gigawatts.
