The Automotive Parts Manufacturers’ Association (APMA) has unveiled the Project Arrow Canadian-made zero-emissions concept vehicle at the Canadian International Auto Show (CIAS). Flavio Volpe, APMA President, presented the cars to auto journalists at the opening of Media Day and thanked politicians and suppliers for helping bring the vision to life.

The APMA chose CIAS to introduce the Project Arrow concept car to Canada because the Auto Show has been the largest national celebration of the automobile industry for 50 years, welcoming more than 330,000 visitors annually. The car is a result of a collaboration between over 50 Canadian manufacturers to build an all-Canadian concept vehicle that showcases the best of Ontario’s automotive and technology sectors.

The car was developed at the Automotive Centre of Excellence in Oshawa, and the final vehicle is expected to debut in 2025 with a run rate of 50,000 units manufactured per year. Project Arrow claims that its vehicles are intended for Canadian drivers, but its unveiling at a US trade show suggests that the company might eventually reach global consumers.

The car is a result of an over $5-million FedDev Ontario investment, and the APMA has thanked partners like FedDev Ontario for supporting the project. Additionally, the government of Ontario announced an investment of C$56.4 million over the next four years to accelerate the development of autonomous vehicles and mobility technologies.

“The Ontario government challenged us to build this vehicle, and they were the first to support us when we launched Project Arrow,” said Flavio Volpe. “This investment is just another part of this government’s incredible and unprecedented commitment to Ontario’s automotive industry.”

The Project Arrow concept car is a great example of collaboration and Canadian excellence. It will now be available for the automobile sector to study and connect with the companies that built it. The Canadian International Auto Show is not only the largest automotive expo in Canada, but it is also the country’s largest consumer show. The 50th annual Canadian International Auto Show features more than 650,000 square feet of exhibits, displays, and attractions spanning the North and South Buildings of the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.

Some of the companies contributing to the project include Ettractive, YQG Technologies, Narmco Group, TRQSS, Cybeats, and Myant. LeddarTech, based in Quebec, also contributed.

The final vehicle, expected to debut in 2025, will cost around C$60,000, with a run rate of 50,000 units manufactured per year. While Project Arrow claims that its vehicles are intended for Canadian drivers, its unveiling at a US trade show suggests that the company might eventually reach global consumers.
